The older I get the more difficult I’m finding to make a big change.

My cholesterol numbers were way off. Grant it, I’ve been eating a lot more processed food.

But I’m thinking of going the all veggie and plant diet while eating some salmon for the omegas.

I love vegetable sushi. And Uber eats has a promo of buy one get one from a local sushi place here in Cincinnati that comes out to about $6 a roll. And it’s huge. Not a bad price.

I’m shooting to drop my cholesterol under 200 by mid July. It’s currently at 289. Unacceptable. Lol

I've always been active my entire life with sports & exercise

About 2yrs ago I started slipping and put on some weight

Cholesterol also went up like yours

I finally put my head into it and made myself work on it

Stopped eating breakfast, drank a protein shake at lunch (Over the counter), and basically only ate dinner

Cut out all pork and cut back on bread

Walked every evening AFTER dinner

Lost over 20 pounds in about 2 months

Some ppl will say going that route and cut back so much on eating so fast isn't healthy

When my dr saw my cholesterol was good again, he said I don't know what you're doing, but keep doing it if you want

Bottom line is you don't need pills or special diets

Just shut your pie hole a bit, add some exercise, and you will be good to go

First week of cutting back on the food, you will be hungry. Replace it will fluids. You'll get used to it quickly and the hunger will fade away

Yep, sounds like a plan. Good for you brother.

They are quick to throw pills. I’m not in any and don’t plan to be on any time soon

I think cholesterol is overrated and they are quick to push meds.

I’ll get it in check. It’s always been right around 190-200

Yeah, 289 is honestly insane
I eat whatever I want, but I never had a problem overeating. I don't get how people do it. It is so uncomfortable on your stomach
I rarely eat sugar. Swapped out all that for protein bars for a snack.

This cook book will teach you the basics in cooking technique and timing.
Life changer if cooking is an obstacle. IMO home cooking is the best way to control bad eating habits.

Good luck!

stay away from the statins if you're trying to reduce the cholesterol.... A good homemade recipe is Red Yeast Rice and Fish Oil Omega-3.

Overall , the 3 keys I would recommend that works , exercise, cut out the snacks , and don't eat late.. The phycological battle comes when you start getting hungry in the evening , the cravings have to be overcome until your body adjusts.

Getting that metabolism going takes care of worrying about the food intake.

This is very important and part of what caught up to me

We would eat dinner, and then not long after watch a movie or series together, grabbing a snack while doing so about halfway thru
Besides our own health , good to give yourself as many reasons and goals to shoot for to look fit.
Our partners sure don't want us looking like shit. lol

I am very active, but still young. Starting to think about that stuff a little more

Cut out a lot of meat from my diet and think it has helped me feel generally healthier

Went on keto and it fixed my blood pressure, sleep apnea and pre-diabetes. In perfect health now. Lost a lb a day the first two weeks, then 1/2 for a while and then you'll hit a wall. Lost 35 lbs in total. Did go off for a while and the weight gain is fast. Went back on it a second time and down to that 35 lb original loss.

Should add that I do weight lifting and walking, no running or jocking while on keto. Going to start playing pickleball soon.

It takes about 3 days before you won't feel the need for sugar and snacks. The first 3 days were tough for me. After the 3 days, you're not going to be very hungry. Just don't cheat since blowing one day makes you have to start over. When you see the fast weight loss it really makes you want to stay on it.

Don't try the so called keto snacks. For some reason even though they say low carbs it made me stop losing weight and having to start over. I use a lot of Frank's hot sauce to put on the meat.

Meat, cheese, eggs, a little romaine lettuce with low carb salad dressing. I throw cheese and hard boiled eggs in the salad. Only one salad per day because of the carbs in the lettuce. It's really not a bad diet since you can have bacon or sausage with eggs in the morning, a salad and meat the rest of the day.

You can also have some strawberries, blackberries and Spanish nuts. You really have to be careful with those three since you will crave more and they do have some carbs. It's probably best to stay off those for at least a week and then experiment with those after a while.

I've heard from anyone (including my dad) who has done keto that it works wonders

Heard a lot of about cholesterol numbers being great

That's what happened to me too. It's strange since they say bacon and sausage are bad for the cholesterol but it seems to be the opposite when on keto.
